Hello Sarah:

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.

  1. To Reap the Spirit is book 3 in the Dead Dreamer series. What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before starting a new book? Do you have an idea of where the story will go before writing?

SARAH:  I originally started the Dead Dreamer series back in 2009. So, I’ve been researching for this series for over 10 years. Irish mythology has always been a passion of mine, so the series is heavily influenced by it. But it also captures mythologies from Catholicism, Christianity, Hinduism, and many others. I’ll be researching throughout the writing and evolve as I write based on what I learn.

While writing, sometimes I’m not sure what twists and turns will occur, but I do tend to have an overall idea of the endgame.

  1. What did you edit out of this installment?

SARAH:  When this book was originally written in 2011, Brenna seemed to have lost her angry spark and became so vulnerable…and we just CANNOT have that. Nope. Not cool. So, Brenna is back to herself, still evolving as a person and growing, but someone who needs to be rescued. I don’t know what I was thinking!

  1. What do you find to be the most difficult part of your writing process?

SARAH:  Probably relationships between characters. If there is a romantic connection for any character, not just Brenna, it can be difficult for me to truly capture that softness. As someone who has never experienced romance before, it’s not something I can just spit out there.

  1. How many installments will this series be?

SARAH:  There will be 4 books total in the series itself. There could be more within the Dead Dreamer universe, but that’s still undecided at the moment.

  1. Lastly, in your bio it’s mentioned that you like to play video games when not writing. What kind of games do you enjoy playing?

SARAH:  I LOVE RPGs! Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Star Wars, Dragon Age, Horizon Zero Dawn…I love them all. RPGs are basically interactive books, waiting on the player to watch and make decisions to determine the endgame. It’s the best inspiration sometimes when I’m stuck on my own work. I’m obsessed.

That was fun getting to talk with Sarah Lampkin. Remember TO REAP THE SPIRIT ( DEAD DREAMER 3) IS AVAILABLE NOW.
